Adelaide - Day 4 Final Day

It was time to go home, but before we started on our 4.5 hour trip, we decided to take the kids to the zoo. Ian & I hadn't been for years and years and we hadn't taken both kids to the zoo together at all. They were very excited. Seb was in charge of the map and what we were going to see next and how to get there, and Zoe just about made our ears ache with her constant (and I mean constant!) chattering about anything and everything.

First stop were the Panda Bears, Funi and Wang Wang. Zoe didn't quite get what they were to start off with and kept saying very loudly 'Look Mum, there are the POLAR bears!'

After the Panda Bears, Zoe constantly asked if we could see a hippo. At every enclosure, she asked about when we were going to see the hippo! We went back to the hippos enclosure numerous times but they must have been hiding from the four year old chatterbox on purpose to get some peace! Didn't see one hippo. Zoe talked about them for two hours... I kid you not.

The kids and I after walking through the bird enclosure. Ian has a big phobia of birds so I was the brave Mum (hardly!) who took the kids to see the birds.

Zo loved the meerkats. They were right in front of the giraffes, but they hardly got a look in. These strange little animals were much more interesting!

Sebby checking out the wild dogs.

Pointing out the swimming turtles.

These monkeys entertained us for ages. The black one was the Daddy, the light coloured one is the Mummy with their baby girl. The monkeys were screeching really loudly as they thought some of the other monkeys were getting too close to their territory. Now whenever we ask Zoe what noise a monkey makes, it's not 'Oo oo, ah ah', it's 'WHAAAAAAAAAAT!!!'. So funny to hear her do it, and it really does sound like the noises the monkeys were making :)

Our own little 'Jewels of Asia' :)

We finished our zoo visit by going back to the pandas one more time. Thankfully Zoe was calling them by their right name by then! It was great getting so close to such big creatures.

Seb being a little Panda Bear.

On the way out we went to the Zoo Shop. Seb picked out a cute little penguin which is the same size as his beloved Max - obviously perfect cuddling size! Zoe picked out a Funi Panda Bear and she pretty much hasn't put her down since. Now she's going on and on... and on about wanting the boy panda bear, Wang Wang :)

We had a fantastic family holiday together, even though it was only a short one. Hopefully our next one isn't so far away.
