Merricks Camp 2011

Last weekend we went to Merricks to join around 15 other Korean Adoptive families for a camp that ran two nights. We didn't end up being in the best of health, with three us of coming down with gastro, but we tried to make the most of our healthy hours! Ian made the best of night times around the fire talking with other parents, Seb made the most of playing with his friends on Friday and Sunday as he was sick on Saturday, I made the most of what time I had out of the cabin in between looking after Seb and being sick myself on Sunday. Zoe was the only one of us that didn't get sick and she had an absolute BALL!! We hardly saw her as she was off playing with the kids. There were over 10 seven year old boys, and probably around the same amount of 2-3 year olds. There were a few girls that Zoe was always playing with. For our usually reserved little girl, she did really well and always fell into bed exhausted at the end of the day after a big day of play.

In between feeling sick, Seb went out to play with his friends whenever he could. They are such a nice bunch of boys. All day Saturday when Seb was sick, they'd come and visit him in his room to see how he was and when he could come out and play. We had around five other boys on the bed with Seb at one point watching Seb play the iPad.

YuHee and Zoe visiting me while I was sick in bed. YuHee is 6 months younger than Zoe and they got along really well together. She is a real chatterbox and very friendly. YuHee was trying to tell me about her older brother by saying 'I'm my sister's brother'. Cracked me up.

While disappointed we all weren't well enough to enjoy the weekend fully, we are so glad we went as the kids will remember the camp knowing there are lots of other families out there that are just like ours. Brought together by adoption and great love.
